Smashwords Premium Catalog

This short piece applies to any who owns the electronic (eBook) rights to his or her work.

Smashwords has signed contracts with several of the eReader big boys like Kindle, Sony, and iPad.  For a book to have a chance to be in  the Smashwords Premium Catalog, the author/publisher must follow the directions from “The Smashwords Style Guide”. Click on the link and download it free—no cost.

If you didn’t know about this style guide before, I suggest you download it, print it and read with a Hi-Liter in hand.  Then do everything it says.  Our Hart, the sequel to My Splendid Concubine is currently going through the approval process to be included in the Smashwords Premium Catalog. I’ve already had to return twice and fix things in the eBook-formatted manuscript and resubmit, and Our Hart has not been approved yet.

This Style Guide also makes important suggestions and points out why they are important because of the differences in the e-Reader reading platform compared to books printed on paper.  There are important differences if you want to gain fans and keep them.
